Ongoing comparison

Compare yourself to Opal and how she is reacting to her move and to new people she encounters. How are you the similar and how are you different? In your comment, be sure to label you, Opal and the traits you have in common.

Chapters 6 & 7

Your turn: Add 2 questions to the comments, one for chapter 7 and one for chapter 8. Think about the author's purpose, connections you have to the story or a character, the emotions in the book, or how different characters think and feel...

Chapter 5; Question 2

Chapter 5 starts out playfully, especially when Winn-Dixie caught the mouse in church! Yet, the end of the chapter is not quite as funny. What is the mood of this chapter? Why do you think the author, Kate DeCamillo, changes the mood? How does the mood give you insight into Opal?

Chapter 4; Question 1

What were some of the ten things the Preacher told Opal about her mother? Why are these things so important to Opal?
